In the solar power system, in order to decrease the connecting line, simplify maintenance, reduce losses, optimize system structure, and improve the safety and reliability of items, the PV combiner box is typically required between the solar panels and the inverter.

In addition to the PV junction function, the combiner box also features reverse current prevention, over-current protection, over-voltage protection, lightning protection, and other essential safety measures. It monitors the running state, current, voltage, power after junction, arrester state, DC circuit breaker status, Arc detection, and leakage detection (optional).

When selecting a PV combiner box, based on the input DC voltage range and output power of the inverter, a specified quantity of panels connects in series as a string. Multiple strings then connect in parallel to the PV combiner box for junction, routed through the circuit breaker and surge protection devices to feed the inverter safely.
